This policy explains how Splash Designs Ltd, trading as Splash, handles personal information. If anything is unclear, or you want to ask about your information, contact Stephen O'Sullivan at go@splash.ie and we will help.

02

What data
we collect.

We collect different information depending on how you deal with us.

  • When you visit the website. Basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and how you arrived. This is standard for almost every website and helps us keep the site working and secure.

  • When you fill in a form or email us. Your name, email address, phone number and whatever you choose to tell us in your message.

  • When you book a call. The details you enter when booking through our scheduling link, so we can hold the appointment and prepare for it.

  • When you become a client. Contact and billing details, the information needed to deliver and support your project, and records of payments.

  • When you sign up for updates. Your name and email address, so we can send you the updates you asked for.

We do not ask for more than we need, and we do not collect special category information such as health or political views.

03

Why we
collect it

Data protection law asks us to have a clear reason, called a lawful basis, for using your information. We rely on the following.

  • Consent - When you ask us to do something, such as sending you marketing updates. You can withdraw consent at any time.

  • Contract - When we need your information to provide a service you have engaged us for, such as building or hosting your website.

  • Legal obligation - When the law requires us to keep records, for example for tax and accounting.

  • Legitimate interest - When we have a fair business reason that does not override your rights, such as keeping the website secure or replying to an enquiry.

04

How long
we keep it

We keep information only as long as we need it, then remove it. As a guide:

  • Server logs - Around 90 days, for security and troubleshooting.

  • Enquiries and form submissions - Up to 3 years from your last contact, unless you become a client.

  • Client records - For the length of our working relationship and a reasonable period afterwards.

  • Financial and tax records - 7 years, as required by Irish tax law.

  • Marketing sign-ups - Until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop.

05

Cookies and
tracking.

Our website uses cookies and similar tools to help it work properly and to understand how it is used. You can control these through your browser and through any cookie banner on the site.

Our separate Cookie Policy explains what we use and how to manage it. Please read it alongside this policy.

06

Who we
share it with.

We do not sell your information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only as far as they need it to do their job. These may include:

  • Website hosting and infrastructure, to run our site and yours.

  • Analytics, to understand how the website is used.

  • Payment and direct debit providers, to process payments securely.

  • Scheduling and email tools, to manage bookings and send the messages you have asked for.

Each of these providers is required to protect your information and use it only for the purpose we engage them for. We may also share information where the law requires it.

07

Sending
information abroad.

Some of the providers we use may store or process information outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, so your information keeps a similar level of protection.

08

How we
keep it safe.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure hosting, restricted access and sensible internal practices. No system can be made completely secure, so while we work to reduce risk, we cannot promise that a breach will never happen. If one ever affected your rights, we would act on it and notify you and the authorities where required.

09

Your
rights.

Under data protection law you have the right to:

  • See the information we hold about you.

  • Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.

  • Delete your information, where there is no overriding reason to keep it.

  • Restrict or object to how we use it in certain situations.

  • Move your information to another provider where that applies.

  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on it.

To use any of these rights, email go@splash.ie. We will respond within the time the law allows, normally within one month. You will not be charged for a reasonable request.

10

Children.

Our services are aimed at businesses, not children. We do not knowingly collect information about children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.

11

Changes to
this policy.

We may update this policy from time to time as our services or the law change. When we do, we will update the date at the top of the page. If a change is significant, we will make that clear.

12

How to
contact us.

For any question about this policy or your information, contact Stephen O'Sullivan at go@splash.ie or 0818 44 55 66.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, the Irish supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie. We would always prefer you came to us first so we can put things right.
